Summer is fast approaching which means it is the season of the outdoor cocktail party!! Cocktail parties are cool and refreshing summer mix to change it up from the traditional barbecue or garden party. So how do you get started?

If you want a summer classic:

You can't make a summer cocktail guide without including a gin! Gin is tremendously popular at the moment so we'll give you a simple summer twist on this traditional favourite.

  • Gin
  • Tonic (Cucumber flavoured for extra variation)
  • Cucumber, Lime, Mint, Grapefruit

Pour your favourite gin with some tonic and serve in a goblet with ice and a straw. Add some grapefruit and raspberries instead of your traditional cucumber/lime for a really interesting summer variation!

If you want to experiment:

The Margarita is a summer-time favourite. Europeans are not traditionally tequila enthusiasts but we think it's time for everyone to revisit this. A good margarita is an easy and refreshing summer cocktail. The ingredients are as follows:

  • Tequila (blanco or reposado is recommended)
  • Lime Juice
  • Triple Sec
  • Ice
  • Salt (optional to rim the glass)

Put all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake. Serve in an old-fashioned glass, garnish with salt and lime wedge.

If you're looking to put an interesting twist on this, try your margarita with mezcal rather than tequila.

If you're a tequila convert, consider a Paloma for your next party!

Whisky in the summer?

This is an amazing option that will blow your guests away. This cocktail is our current company favourite helping us put a really interesting twist on whiskey.

  • 2 (ounce) bourbon
  • 1 ginger liqueur
  • 11/2 ounces passion fruit puree
  • 1 juiced lime
  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 1 luxardo cherry

This is served best in a rocks glass with crushed ice. For additional points, serve some cherries and pieces of passion fruit on a toothpick over the glass.
